How to configure Access List SSH Remote in Cisco Router
How to configure SSH on your Cisco Router.
In this video we use GNS3, VMWare software and Putty for tutorial.we have one cisco router and two window client using putty connect to the router.
Next we configure the device for SSH access and create Access Control List (ACL) for specifict IP to remote in the router. Then we test and verify the connection.
This is a complete step-by-step SSH configuration on a Cisco Router. you can configure on Cisco switch as well.
SSH Vs Telnet
---------------------------
SSH and Telnet are used to achieve the same result, to connect to the switch/router remotely however SSH and Telnet couldn't be more different in terms of security.
While Telnet is still widely used but it has a BIG security flaw, it transmits all login details in PLAIN TEXT causing a huge security vulnerability and allowing anyone with the know how to pick out the logging information to you Cisco devices!
SSH on the overhand is completely secure and should be used over telnet every time. It uses a very clever process that encrypts and decrypts the data that is sent to cisco devices.
SSH does have a few extra steps involved but still only takes a few minutes to set up as this videos shows you.
