Tim Johnsen is the iOS lead at Flipboard where he's been working for the past four years. He also enjoys working on side projects including Opener, an app that allows people to open web links within apps, and Tangram, an Instagram app for the new Apple TV.
The way that iOS handles URLs has changed a lot over the past few years. App URL schemes have been around since the beginning of the iOS SDK, but iOS 9 brings some interesting complications to them and introduces universal links, which are a whole different take on how inter-app linking should work. In this talk, you'll learn about how these technologies work, best practices, and what their pitfalls are. You'll also learn about how Opener for iOS, a deep linking app, works and some strategies for reverse engineering app URL schemes.
