In the Lifelink SMP you are randomly linked with another player. This means every time you die, your link will also die, and vice versa. Every time you die, your link will drop a link shard. If you combine enough link shards with 4 totems and a nether star you will obtain the link totem, which can only be used once per week. This resets all links.
