EA Sports FC 25 is an upcoming football video game published by Electronic Arts. It will be the second instalment in the EA Sports FC series and the 32nd overall instalment of EA Sports' football simulation games. The game is being developed by EA Sports and is set to be released worldwide on 27 September 2024[1] for Nintendo Switch,[2] PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.[1][3] This new instalment introduces several innovative features aimed at enhancing gameplay and player engagement, according to EA developers.[4][5] The Ultimate Edition cover features football players Gianluigi Buffon, Aitana Bonmatí, Jude Bellingham, Zinedine Zidane, and David Beckham in a room filled with trophies they have won, symbolising their careers,[6] while the Standard Edition cover features just Bellingham.[7]
New Features
FC IQ: This is a comprehensive overhaul of the tactical system, allowing players to influence team strategies more effectively. It includes modernised team tactics and smarter AI for teammates, enabling a more dynamic gameplay experience. Players can now emulate the tactics of famous managers, adapting formations fluidly during matches.[8]

5v5 Rush Mode: Players can team up with friends in a new 5v5 mode, which adds a fresh competitive element to the game.[13][14]
Competitions
UEFA Champions League, UEFA Women's Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League will return.[15] The Coupe de France will be fully licensed in the game. No new leagues will be added to the game.
Licenses
The majority of clubs from FC 24 will be returning, except Serie A clubs Inter Milan, SS Lazio, Atalanta and AC Milan, as well as the Belgium national team, and the Mexico women's national team, whom EA has lost the licenses to.[16][17] Serie A clubs Roma and Napoli will be making their return after four and two years respectively since their last appearances in FIFA 20 and FIFA 22.[18][19] In addition, the Greek club and 2023–24 UEFA Europa Conference League champions Olympiacos, who last appeared in FIFA 22, will be returning, as well as 11 time Azerbaijan Premier League champions Qarabag, who has never appeared in a FIFA/FC game. The Finland women's national team will be making their debut in the FC series.
Ultimate Team
Ahead of the launch, EA Sports announced the members of a launch set of Heroes – usable cards for retired footballers and/or depicting special moments, with comic book art styles created by Marvel and each associated with a league for team chemistry purposes.[20] All are new Heroes with the exception of Yaya Touré.[21] Similarly, Icons (usable cards for retired footballers, depicting their rating at their peak; styled "ICONs" in the game), are returning to Ultimate Team, only associated with their nations for chemistry purposes. The eight new Icons are Gianluigi Buffon, Gareth Bale, Lotta Schelin, Julie Foudy, Lilian Thuram, Nadine Angerer, Aya Miyama, and Marinette Pichon.
eFootball is a series of association football simulation video games developed and published by Konami. It has been completely rebranded from the original Pro Evolution Soccer (known as Winning Eleven in Japan) series.[1] The game's first year, entitled eFootball 2022, was released on 30 September 2021. It was later changed to the game's second year, eFootball 2023, on August 25, 2022 and the game's third year, eFootball 2024 on September 7, 2023. This game is part of the International Esports Federation's World Championship and North and Eastern Europa League (NEEC).
Development
On 21 July 2021, Konami released a six-minute video revealing the new game.[2] The announcement revealed that the Pro Evolution Soccer brand had been dropped.[3]
The game was released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on 30 September 2021.[4][2] It was built using Unreal Engine 4 for the first time in the franchise.[5]
On 8 October 2021, Konami announced that it would release a new update with fixes for the game's issues on 28 October 2021.[6] The update was delayed and the release postponed to November 2021.[7] Konami then launched the update 0.9.1 on 5 November,[8] and announced that the 1.0 update release was delayed until Spring 2022.[9] Version 1.0.0 of eFootball 2022 was finally announced on 6 April 2022, with release date on 14 April 2022.[10]
