Flying from Istanbul to Washington DC in Boeing 777, November 2020. This was my first pandemic flight and it turned out better than I thought it would be. The catering and service were outstanding, the staff was very professional and helpful. Unfortunately passengers were very careless and the cabin crew could not do anything about it. Another thing I noticed was that they announced that the food was going to be served seperately for each row and that passengers had to eat at different times. Only minutes after, no such thing happened! Similarly, the deboarding was supposed to be row by row yet everyone left the aircraft simultaneously. I think the staff could be more effective in these situations.
The airport was very empty and the stores are mostly closed. The Lounge had various meal options, though the same problem with masks was there too.
As an interesting remark, we were flying with 36 live pets beneath and there was an hour of delay for the heating of that compartment. Still unbelievable!
After all, I appreciate Turkish Airlines and their efforts in making everything as smooth as it could be. I wish everyone safe travels!
