I would love to build a live MIDI looping setup in REAPER, but the walled approach it has to MIDI items makes it prohibitive. I currently perform in Ableton using (mostly) fixed length clips in session view that I overdub into, but Session view makes it tricky to pre-build an arrangement.
So far, none of the "linear" DAWs allow me to freely loop MIDI without worrying about notes getting cut off by the walls of the clips, and none of the performance oriented DAWs let you pre-sequence an arrangement.
If you've had any luck with another DAW (Maschine, MPC, Studio One, Cubase?) let me know!
