Parents in Lagos are in an uproar over a staggering 200% increase in boarding fees for Model Colleges, rising from N35,000 to N100,000 per term. This hike, deemed unaffordable amidst economic challenges, led parents to refuse sending their children back to school. While the government attributed the increase to rising operational costs, suspicions of corruption loomed large. Following protests, the Lagos State House of Assembly intervened, reverting the fee to N35,000 and forming a committee to enhance financial transparency in schools. We are joined by Dapo Dawodu, Chairman of the Parents Forum of Model Colleges, who shares insights on the PTA's reaction, the government's response, and the future of school funding. Discover how parents can engage in the newly established committee and what measures are being put in place for accountability.
