David Rudder Rally Round the West Indies
The song Rally Around the West Indies is composed by David Rudder, the Trinidad and Tobago griot of Calypso music
David discusses that the song was symbolic to the World of Cricket as seen through Caribbean eyes.
Rally Around the West Indies is now the acclaimed anthem of Caribbean communities as the islands lend support to each other through times of dire crisis.
After the recent volcanic eruption in St Vincent and the Grenadines this song is the clarion call to all Caribbean and International organizations to Rally Around the West Indies.
The Cultural Academy for Excellence (CAFE) will host the virtual event "Rally Round the West Indies” on Sunday, June 13, 2021, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm EST, to raise funds for the victims of the recent eruption of La Soufriere Volcano in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The event will be supported by the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Washington, DC (TTADC) and will be streamed live on our YouTube Channels and Facebook Pages. We're excited that David Rudder has agreed to entertain us along with some other fabulous performers, including Bomani, Positive Vibrations Youth Steel Orchestra, Pan Lara Youth Steel Orchestra, Pan Masters Steel Orchestra, Jamal George, Image Band, Something Positive, and La Gracia Dance Company.
