Peter Jackson Shares His Favorite Films
Peter Jackson, along with his wife and creative partner Fran Walsh, will forever be known for The Lord of the Rings trilogy. And with good reason—it’s one of the most narratively and technologically ambitious film franchises ever produced.
The trilogy adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkein’s novels seems like a no-brainer almost 20 years after Jackson and Walsh began pitching the project in Hollywood. But in hindsight, the arduous production process for a director previously known for low-budget horror and the Oscar-nominated true crime drama Heavenly Creatures now holds a significant place in film history. It’s the bridge between Steven Spielberg and the beginning of the blockbuster action era and the current franchise film machine focused on long-running series with domestic and international box-office success.
