first, how to backup the Mikrotik router
use Winbox, to connect with the Mikrotik router
let's check the configurations before backup
as you see, there are some configurations in this router
let's start the backup
navigate to files, from the left menu
click backup
name it
you have the option to encrypt or give the password
then click backup
as you see, the backup file was created
you can drag it to any storage location on your PC, to use it in case of disaster recovery
second, how to reset the Mikrotik router
navigate to the system, and click reset configuration
as you see, there are some options like, keep user configuration, you can check it if you want to keep admin password
you can check to backup before reset, and the system will backup itself before reset
you can check no default configuration for the router after reset, as I did
then click reset configuration, and yes
reconnect to the router after the restart
as you see, all configurations were reset, without any default configurations
third, how to restore the Mikrotik router
navigate to files, drag the backup file to the file window, on the Mikrotik router
select the file and click restore, then yes
after the restart, reconnect to the router
check your configuration, you will find all configurations restored
