Reason #1: Power supply: If the washer appears to be dead, it might not be getting power. Reset the breaker and test whether the socket is receiving proper voltage. Also check the power cord to make sure that is working properly. For step by step directions on how to do this, watch the video.

Reason #2: User interface control board: The user interface control board allows you to select the cycle and options for the load. If the washer won’t start, it could be that the board has failed or that individual buttons within the board have failed (like the start switch itself), so visually inspecting the control panel is a good first start. Frequently if this happens, you will need to replace the whole control board.
Reason #3: Main control board: The main control board is responsible for the functions of the washer after you make your selections. If the user interface lights up but won’t start when you push buttons, the main control board could have failed and needs to be replaced.
Reason #4: Timer: The washing machine timer controls the functions of the washer. If your washer does start, it’s possible the contacts inside the washer have failed and power isn’t being sent to the washer. The timer will have to be repaired or replaced.
Reason #5: Door latch assembly: The door latch assembly is a safety feature that tells the washer if the door is closed and locks it during the cycle. If it is damaged or failed, the washer won’t start for safety reasons because the washer may still think the door is open.
Reason #6: Start Capacitor: The start capacitor gives the motor an extra burst of electricity to help it start. If it’s failing, you may hear it hum but the washer still will not start. Follow the troubleshooting testing instructions within the video if you think the start capacitor might be the problem.
Reason #7: Drive Motor: The drive motor turns electrical energy into mechanical energy to drive the motor. If the capacitor is running correctly but you still hear a humming, it may be that the drive motor is the issue.
