A basic look at how to use the qualifier tool and secondary color correction in Blackmagic Davinci Resolve 12.5. This tutorial goes back to our swan footage and looks at how we can make the image pop a little more than it did on the dull day we filmed it.
The original footage is shot in vlog and has a primary grade to get it looking right. I then add an additional node and use the qualifier tool to make adjustments to the beak of the swan.
Sound a bit boring? :-) Well, it's a nice simple example of how to mask out a certain area in an image to adjust it and produce a very small improvement. It's all about being subtle with this kind of stuff. Not major changes. Nobody should be able to tell you've done it apart from having a 'nicer' viewing experience.
