SASHA-OR Grant Project: Developing a Robotic Scrub Nurse
Research project in cooperation with Klinikum rechts der Isar München, research group MITI and Baxter International Inc.
The SASHA-OR grant project, aims to develop an autonomous robotic assistance system for use in a sterile operating room environment for the first time. The system is intended to fully take over the provision and acceptance of instruments and materials, as well as their preparation before and after standardized surgical procedures (‘Instrumentation’). SASHA-OR is designed to replace (missing) operating room personnel who typically support the medical team in all surgeries. SASHA-OR operates autonomously and adapts to the situation (workflow-integrated) and can also be controlled through speech and gestures. SASHA-OR can be flexibly adapted to different procedures and used across different medical specialties. It represents a key system for the collaborative operating room of the future.
