Keyboard Shortcuts (F4) - Format Repeater
We often need to repeat a particular format on cells that are not necessarily connected. Even using the Format Painter which enables us to apply more than one Format at a time can be time-consuming as we need to keep on re-selecting it.
The Function Key F4 enables us to Repeat the last Formatting action. It’s important to note that this is not a shortcut to repeat the Format Painter. The Format Painter re-applies all formats from the copied cell(s). The F4 key simply applies the last Formatting action.
Hint: To get this feature to apply more than one format at a time, use the Format Dialogue box (ctrl + 1) to apply multiple formats initially instead of using the Commands o the Home Ribbon.
