We enjoyed your innocent childhood and not so explosive teens
Excuse our inexperience , we learned the art of parenting with you.
For us , letting go may not come easy
For you , leaving behind may not come easy
We may have to settle for a mid point
Which allows you to explore the world and find yourself
Where the relevance of home and cuddling may slowly erode
We may not be the cool family around and we may evolve in ways you may not approve
You may change into a person we hardly recognize
However , trust in a lasting bond will never fade
And at some point we will exchange roles
And you will take over the reins of life
And today is the first step towards that
Celebrate the light within you
Create meaningful connections
Try out different experiences - what may fascinate you today , may lose its luster
What you don’t care for today , may become a dear thing
You may need to travel half way around the world to find the treasure in your backyard
If you learn , in whatsoever state you are , therewith to be content, in abundance and need
You will have a happy life
