Double-powered electric trains HRCS2 were purchased by Ukrainian Railways in preparation for the Euro 2012 football championship to provide passenger traffic between cities where sporting events will be held. The cost of the contract for the purchase of 10 electric trains was $ 307 million.
The electric train is intended for the carriage of passengers on electrified sections of railways with a rated voltage in the contact network of 25 kV AC with a frequency of 50 Hz and 3 kV DC, with a track gauge of 1520 mm, in high-speed traffic. The operating speed of the electric train is 160 km / h.
