This week I try some wooden profile rib tools to give shape to pots. This is an experiment to see how easy and fun these are to use. I give you a few tips to make using these profiles easier.
Overall I love shaping pots and experimenting with shape by hand and I often use a flexible rib for shaping.... however these create much more uniformity and make the pots look a little mechanical. Which may or may not be a good thing - depending on what you are trying to achieve with your pots.
The extra take away: I show you a little trick that might help you when removing your pots from the wheel!
Take aways: Experiment with profiles, Remove pots from the wheel without deforming.
These are the PROFILE RIBS I used for this video. They seem sturdy and work well. The shapes are varied and useful. Get yours here: https://amzn.to/3y0nMGk
The YELLOW RIB featured in nearly every video has been with me for years and I use it for shaping, refining & compressing. I would never want to be without. It's hard to loose... and it just carries on. Along with my wheel - this is with me for the long haul!
I would strongly recommend it here: https://amzn.to/467QQID
