Wheaton Regional Park Mid 1960s 8mm Home Movies
These 8mm home movies were filmed by my father in the mid 60s.
The train at the park had recently opened, and you can see a bit of work still going on at the park during the train ride.
Wheaton Regional Park is a public park and county-designated protected area, located in Wheaton, Maryland. It is operated and managed by Montgomery County Parks (Montgomery Parks), a division of a bi-county agency, Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M–NCPPC), which serves both Montgomery and Prince George's counties in the Washington, D.C. suburbs of the state of Maryland.[4] The park was established in 1960, incorporating several large parcels of land into one of the county's largest parks, at the size of 538.7 acres
The Wheaton Miniature Train is a replica of 1863 C. P. Huntington engine and passenger cars; it takes passengers on a short tour of the park. The train operates weekends only in April and September and daily from May through August.
