So if you've just deleted a bunch of photos on your Mac, then this video is for you.
Note: if you've deleted something on your Mac and when you deleted it, it said permanently deleted, or this cannot be undone. That's a little bit more of a unique situation in which you should definitely stop using your Mac entirely and watch this video all the way through, because that's, what's going to give you the best chance of file recovery.
Method #1
Using the Photos app, built into the Mac as our main recovery vessel. So the cool thing about the Photos app is that there's a 30-day grace period for all photos deleted from the app within that timeframe. So, pretty much, if you just change your mind within a month, you can just go into the recently deleted folder and pull out whatever it is that you need back. It's really quite simple. And this works for both Mac and iPhone, by the way.
1. You open the Photos app and then in the left-hand column, you'll see a category or a folder called recently deleted. You can go in there and inside, you'll see a collection of all the photos and videos, by the way of everything that you've deleted within the last 30 days.
2. Select the photo or photos that you want to recover and simply click recover at the top right.
Method #2
Recover your photos through your iCloud library. If you act quickly, you can recover just about any photo that was loaded onto a Mac that was taken on an iPhone using iCloud, and it works like this.
1. Just go to icloud.com, log in with your Apple ID and then go to photos.
2. Now, this process is extremely similar to using the photos app on your Mac. All you do is you go to the recently deleted folder in the far left, and that will show you everything that you have recently deleted, simply the photo or video that you want to recover.
3. Click Recover at the top right.
Method #3
Use photo recovery software in order to get our photos back. Disk Drill is a piece of software built for both Mac and PC. To recover permanently deleted photos on Mac:
1. Download and install Disk Drill on your Mac (macOS Monterey, Big Sur supported).
2. Open Disk Drill. You will see the list all of the storage devices and drives that have been connected to the computer. Whether you're trying to recover from your internal drive, like an SSD or an external SD card or USB device, or an external hard drive, or iPhone (iPad) whatever it is, Disk Drill has you covered. And so speaking of that, if you have photos on an external drive that you have not yet connected to your Mac, then go ahead and do so now.
3. Once you've connected the drive, it will show up in the disk list. Now, all that's left to do is select the drive, select your recovery method and click search for lost data.
4. preview photos to make sure they are recoverable. Now, since we're looking for deleted pictures, what I'm going to do is actually go to the left-hand side and select the pictures folder right here, which will show you all of the different picture files that were found during the skin. So of course, all your basic file types like PNG or JPEG are supported here, but even things like raw photos, like CRW (RAW photos), for example, for all my professional photographers out there are well-supported within district four as well, which is something that's extremely important for professionals.
5. Go ahead and sort through all of the different files and folders for the deleted photos that you're looking for. Once you've found the photos that you want to recover and you've made sure that their preview bubble, then go ahead and put a checkmark next to each one and click Recover and choose your save location. Note: If you're trying to recover from an SD card, for example, then you do not want to export your saved files to the SD card. Again, we're trying to prevent overwriting. So I'm just going to save them to my desktop, which is what I usually do and click.
6. Once the recovery process is finished, you will have all of your files saved to your designated location, all set to go. And that is it.
That is how you recover, deleted photos on your Mac!
