Saving Gracelyn
Born prematurely at 30 weeks, 1 day, at North Kansas City Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Gracelyn Eichhorn is now spunky, outgoing girl. Mom Vallri’s due date was April 9, 2021, but on Jan. 27, she was transferred from an area hospital to NKCH’s Labor and Delivery unit for more advanced care. Three days later, Vallri’s condition became life-threatening, and she delivered Gracelyn by cesarean section. Thanks to a collaboration with Children’s Mercy Kansas City, NKCH provides the only Level III NICU in the Northland. Our specially trained perinatology staff care for babies born as early as 28 weeks or who need intensive care.
