Is Amazon FBA Dead? Is Amazon FBA too saturated? Is Amazon FBA still profitable? In this video, I give my honest opinion on whether Amazon FBA is worth it in 2020!
People say that Amazon FBA is dead or too saturated as it is no longer easy as it used to be to make money selling on Amazon. To have a good chance of making a profit on Amazon you need to invest time and money in product research and developing a product/brand that stands out against the competition.
In my view, it is still worth starting a private label FBA business in 2020 selling products on Amazon. However, there are a number of things to consider as Amazon FBA is definitely not for everyone.
Amazon FBA Competition
For almost every private label product that is being sold on Amazon there will be lots of competitors and the number of competing sellers will be growing all the time. In pretty much any niche you will find yourself competing against other FBA sellers, Chinese suppliers and even Amazon themselves.
Amazon PPC Costs
Amazon Sponsored Ads (Pay Per Click) is one of the most popular ways to launch and promote a new private label product on Amazon. Over the last year, PPC costs have skyrocketed, I am now paying over 50% more per click for the same products that I was selling a year ago - this is due to lots of new sellers joining the niches that I am selling in. Many keywords now cost over £1 per click and launching a product can easily cost thousands.
Is Amazon FBA Risky?
There is no way to sugar coat this, selling on Amazon is risky! There are two main areas of risk to your investment if you decide to start an Amazon FBA business...
1) Product Risk - You may spend days/weeks on product research finding a product to sell on Amazon, however, there is no guarantee that customers will want to buy the product you develop. It is also possible that you create a fantastic product but are unable to launch it successfully and get it ranked on Amazon.
2) Amazon Risk - Even if you stick to the rules and don't breach Amazon's TOS, it is possible that your product and/or account could be suspended at any time. I have spoken to far too many sellers who have experienced this and it can take days or weeks to get reinstated and sometimes that isn't possible and the suspension is permanent.
