In this tutorial/workflow I show you how I usually sample drums from audio files into the Akai S1000 sampler for a live session/gig.
I show you how I build the program, define keygroups and set the samples up to be triggered off my Roland TR-626 or a MIDI keyboard.

If you know the S1000 well from working with it in the past, this tutorial might not show you something you don't already know, but maybe you'll pick up on something anyway. :)
The S1000 can have 4 different samples on each keygroup. With velocity you can then trigger different samples to create some dynamic changes, or you can layer sounds and further pan, adjust volume etc to create fatter kits.
I don't go so advanced in this tutorial, but I'd be happy to answer any questions about it.
The S1000 also have individual outputs and in a live situation I would break out the different samples to be able to control the volume, pan and effect send for each one. In this tutorial they're all going out the main stereo out. You can adjust the volume and pan for each one inside the S1000 though.
The track I play live at the end is just some improv done at the spur of the moment. I play a bass on the Roland Alpha Juno 2 to the left and a brass-patch directly off the MiniNova to the right. The drums are the kit I make in the video of course.
The drum samples used in this tutorial can be downloaded here, but please subscribe to my channel in return :)

My tracks pay homage to all synth.pop acts of the 80'ies like Howard Jones, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Thompson Twins, Tears for Fears, Ultravox, OMD, Euryhmics, Duran Duran, Giorgio Moroder, Jean Michel Jarre, Jan Hammer, A-ha and many more.
A use mostly old gear on my tracks and among them Roland Juno 6, Alpha Juno 2, D550 and JX-8P. Korg DW-8000 and Elka EK22.
Roland TR-626 drum machine. Yamaha DX7 and TX802 and drum machine RX11. I use the Novation Mininova as a vocoder on all my tracks.
Effects are usually handled by Strymon and TC electronics.
Sampling is done on my E-MU ESI-4000, Akai S1000 or Roland S-10.
