On today's Tips from Trish, I am sharing with you my favorite healthier baking substitutes. You can't always have a perfect day or a perfectly healthy dish. But small changes to your day and even your baking can feel good and be good for you.
These are my two favorite and most used baking substitutes:
vegetable oil = applesauce
shortening = coconut oil
Both of these substitutes are so easy because they are one to one. So whatever amount of vegetable oil and/or shortening your recipe calls for use the same amount of the substitute.
In the sugar cookie recipe we're making today I am substituting Crisco Shortening for coconut oil. For the exact recipe used (aside from this substitution) visit https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/152.... Coconut oil is healthier than shortening and our cookies still turned out delicious!
