This recipe for Oats Upma is easy to make and packed with goodness of vegetables. You can add or remove vegetables according to your kids’ liking. And, it’s also a nice option for the kids who are not a fan of oatmeal with fruits ( just like me 😛).
❇️ INGREDIENTS:
▪️1 cup Quick Oats
▪️2 tbsp Olive oil or oil of your choice
▪️1 tsp Mustard seeds
▪️5-6 Curry leaves
▪️Half a medium sized Onion
▪️1/2 tsp turmeric powder
▪️Chopped Carrots, beans, peas & corn ( frozen or fresh )
▪️1 large Tomato
▪️A pinch of salt ( skip if baby is less than 10 months old )
▪️Chopped Coriander leaves/ Cilantro
❇️ PROCEDURE:
▪️In a heated pan add oil and mustard seeds. Once the seeds have crackled, add curry leaves and onion.
▪️Sauté onions till it turns golden brown in color.
▪️Now, goes in turmeric and vegetables. Fry them by occasional stirring and put a lid on the pan till they are almost cooked.
▪️At this stage, add tomato and salt (for kids one year and above) and cook till it becomes soft.
▪️Add oats and fry for 3-4 minutes by continuously stirring to avoid sticking to the pan.
▪️Pour water just enough to cover the oats and cook till it becomes soft and mushy.
▪️Finally, add chopped coriander leaves and give it a mix.
▪️Oats Upma is ready to eat.
🛑 NOTE:
⚠️Always feed the baby all the ingredients used in the recipe before individually.
⚠️Make sure they aren’t allergic to any of the ingredients.
⚠️Skip using salt for babies under 1 year.
