Blog Post Ideas: How to Find Great Ones
Here’s a process you can use to come up with great blog post ideas.
And I’m not talking just ideas that will interest people in general- I’m talking blog post ideas that answer questions and solve problems that your customers and prospects are actually searching for.
What’s the difference?
1. If you’re spending hours writing blog posts about things people aren’t searching for/Googling/needing help with- you can write the most Shakespearean, beautiful post in the world… but no one’s going to find it or read it. Why? Because no one’s looking for it.
2. The more you can answer your customers’ questions and solve their problems, the more trusted you’ll become, the better resource you’ll become… and the higher search engines are going to rank you. If you help PEOPLE, Google will help YOU
The other part of finding great blog ideas (commonly known as “keyword research”)- certain keywords or phrases will be more difficult to rank on Google’s first page than others.
For example, what do you think would be harder to rank for:
a) Shoes
b) Best Running Shoes for People With Back Problems
Obviously Option B- it’s much more specific (and solves a specific need), so the odds of someone already targeting that detailed of a keyword are pretty low.
But how competitive is THAT keyword?
