In this video, I make an awl from a drill from a perforator. I clamped a drill with a diameter of 6 mm into a screwdriver and honed it on a grinder periodically cooling it in water. Gradually reducing the grain size of sandpaper, I polished the poevrushnost.
I decided to make a ring on the awl handle from an old brass sleeve.
He turned the handle on a makeshift lathe from a 50x50 pine bar and treated it with furniture wax. The drill in the handle was fixed with epoxy glue.
It turned out a convenient hand tool for a garage home. Awl is not used often, but sometimes it is simply irreplaceable. Often it is used in shoe repair and similar works.
