Kent Accents - Everything you need to know + tutorial
Today we are looking at the accents in the county of Kent (that's in England). In 5 minutes I'll give you everything you would ever need to know about Kent accents. The video is divided into 3 parts, the modern accent (Esturary English), the posh accent (RP or Received Pronunciation) and some trasditional features from different parts of rural Kent.
Let me explain about each part - firstly, I'll give you a factfile on Kent in England - the location and important towns. Then we move on to the London and Kent accent connection. Yes there is one! Here I'll explain why Londoners came down to Kent - and how that has changed the modern Kent accent. Next I'll talk about the posh accent, as parts of Kent are indeed, very posh. Finally, I'll give you some features of the traditional Kent accent - you may be surprised to find which features people used to speak with.
Now, the furher you get from London, the more rural it becomes and It's certainly a beautiful place and I hope you get to visit it one day. I have lots of happy memories from my time there.
