New Mombasa "Space Elevator" - Cities: Skylines #9
The Year 2302 brings Mombasa's defining leap towards the most important city on Earth in the form of our very first Space Elevator. Named The Mombasa Tether, the gigantic structure towers over the city and indeed East Africa as it links Humanity, efficiently, to the stars. The construction of the elevator quickly brings massive industry and population to Mombasa, thus giving way to the later name of New Mombasa and the true reason for the megalopolis' existence.
New Mombasa, the busiest shipping port on Earth and home to the first orbital elevator in the Year 2302. Take a look at what a stylised version of the infamous city from the Halo series might have looked like a couple hundred years earlier.
