This is another SQA Lecture, but this time it is a MASTERCLASS in how to use the CHOOSE function!
We wil start at the very beginning, using the CHOOSE function in its simplest form. Then we'll get into a bunch of other uses for it...
Demo 1:
Here, we will look at using CHOOSE to build a fiscal year and quarter for financial reporting (F17Q1)..whenever your financial year happens to begin, using a simple table and CHOOSING fro it based on the month extracted from a date!
We'll even apply a logic to catch Q4 if it is actually in the previous year...neat, huh?

Demo 2:
In this demo, we will use the CHOOSE function to choose a formula to use!

Demo 3:
Here, we will utilise a VLOOKUP, to choose which years numbers we want to sum...just type in the year, and hey presto, the column containing that years data is summed!
Demo 4:
This one is just for fun...we'll use RANDBETWEEN and CHOOSE to randomly select a name from a list...useful for "picking a name out of a hat".
I'll also show you a neat trick...how to quickly convert a column of data into a single string, to save having to copy and paste a thousand values, or typing them in by hand!
