So I've been replaying Gothic and had a realization that I should implement multiple camera states. Essentially, the player can now select between Normal, Close, and Far camera distances. I can technically add more iterations, but these values seemed the most appropriate for most players. Let me know if you'd like more options there.
Regardless, the player can also opt to use either a Modern preset or a Classic preset.
Basically, Modern just means that close-up angles are shifted to the right so the character is off-center. The camera also zooms in and whatnot while running or sprinting.
The Classic camera centers everything and is mostly stationary. There is a tiny amount of zoom while sprinting to give the illusion of speed, but I can change that if requested. Basically I wanted to recreate Risen's camera system.
You can still use the arrow trajectory system in Classic mode so you lose nothing. It's just a preference.
I may add separate options based on feedback. Like being able to select having the modern camera active at close distance only while exploring, and it setting to Classic with Normal or Far distance when in combat. Let me know if you folks are interested.
