Web service is a program which is written in web technologies and used to make communication between client and server over a network.
If Two person of different background(Different mother language) wants to communicate with each other, they require a common language like English, a common set of rules for languages and a medium so that they can communicate easily.
similarly, In the case of Web Services, it requires:
1. A common format: XML/JSON.
2. Set of rules: protocols(HTTP)
3. Medium: Internet/LAN
All web services are API, but All API are not web services.
