The theme: This year, Santoshpur Avenue South Club proudly marks its 58th year of celebrating Durga Puja. The club’s theme Agomon-Gomon (arrival-departure) is a tribute to the diverse modes of transportation that shape our bustling city. From the iconic trams and hand-pulled rickshaws to the beloved yellow taxis and double-decker buses, each vehicle reflects the unique character of Calcutta. As part of its visual aesthetics, the club has showcased the modes of arrival and departure of Goddess Durga, who is anticipated to arrive in a palanquin and depart on horses. The idol captures this theme beautifully, featuring the Goddess adorned in a red sari, surrounded by her four children in their traditional forms. The backdrop showcases a beautifully crafted palanquin, with each of her children positioned in distinct windows, while Maa Durga is at the centre, symbolising her protective presence.
