Evacuated Block
These buildings are no more. Filmed in early '07, the block had been empty for over two years at the time. The families were forced to move after a concern had bought the land and scheduled the construction of a shopping centre. Building plans were re-scheduled and the demolition was delayed for several years. The block became a playground for children from the area and the attics a breeding place for birds, welded doors were frequently broken open again and the buildings sheltered a few homeless people. A woman I met during filming was searching for herbs and flowers that had grown in the former lawn areas.
Since early 2008 there is just an empty field where the buildings once stood.
