Dounreay, a division of Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS), is a leading nuclear research site in Thurso, Scotland, with over five decades at the forefront of fast nuclear reactor development in the UK.
With stringent security measures in place, Dounreay faces the challenge of safeguarding its air-gapped facility from potential threats posed by transient devices, such as vendor laptops.
To address this, Dounreay uses OPSWAT's MetaDefender Drive, a USB device that allows laptops to be booted directly from it and thoroughly scanned for known and unknown malware before they enter the facility. Once scanned and sanitized, these devices can safely cross the air gap, ensuring the site remains secure and compliant with all regulations.
