The Importance of Sound in Video Games

As an avid reader of news in the Video Game Industry, I am amazed at the lack of conversation around soundtracks and sound effects. The amount of immersion a game has can have a huge impact on its ratings. In order for a game to be immerse, you need nice visuals AND good sound effects.
Despite what platform you are on, whether it be PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 or Wii, there are no excuses to not have good sound on completed games. Many developers do a great job of creating games full of immersion with fantastic sound. Yet, it is also lacking in some areas.
