Field Bite: Ka'u Desert Pele's Tears
Virtual field trip to the Ka'u Desert near the Kilauea crater on the big island of Hawaii. We'll see the recent lava flows (250 years old and younger), now covered partially by ash and Pele's hair from the nearby eruption of the Halema'uma'u vent. We review the processes that form volcanic glass, ash, and Pele's Hair during eruptions.
