The Making of Power, Part 2 🪷🪞
I wanted to create a Shadow Self for this video to contrast the bright look I created in the garden shoot, and to reinforce the idea of integration and parts work, which has formed such a vital part of my recovery from childhood trauma. This scene is full of things I would have absolutely loved as a little girl, including my bright pink harp lights by @ledharp and the sparkly Swarovski crystals adorning my @lyonhealyharps Style 2000 (custom paint job and added crystals thanks to its previous owner @catrinfinch 🔮), so I really went all out to create something that would have inspired and wowed Little Amy for this scene.
The centrepiece of this scene is the flower moon gate, which links this video into the EP cover artwork as a statement on integration, growth and cycles of positive change. It took 2-3 hours to build it on set every time I used it as it had to be dismantled into sections with all the flowers and foliage removed so it could be transported. My car was pretty full when we arrived at the shoot as I also had two LED cherry blossom trees and two artificial pink cherry blossom trees with me in addition to all my regular harp gear! It was a lot of effort but building my own garden was such a great symbol for this song and I'm glad I did it.
My earrings for this shoot are by @woodstockandfern - I was so excited to wear these as the pink rose petals were so beautiful and vibrant and the moon phase detailing couldn't have been more perfect.
My necklace is by @mysterious.brand - all the necklaces I wore for the EP link back to American McGee's Alice, because she became my hero long before I knew I was dealing with childhood trauma and she reminds me I can overcome its symptoms when they show up. ♥️♠️♦️♣️
Finally, many years ago I saved a post by @_coppermoon_ with some moon phase affirmations that really spoke to me. Eventually those affirmations helped me to finish writing what became this song. Thanks so much for that bit of inspiration. 🌙
