You may have received an email from Google saying that they're automatically enabling Google My Business in your Google Ads campaign. In this video, Kasim talks about what that means and some of the risks involved.
Here's the full body of the email Google is sending:
Dear Google Advertiser,
You're receiving this message because one or more Google Ads accounts you manage are missing a link to Google My Business. By linking to Google My Business, you're able to show location extensions with your ads and may become eligible to see reporting around store visits and local actions.
Why are location extensions important for your business? Three quarters of people who search on their smartphone for something nearby visit a related business within a day1. Location extensions help consumers find your business locations directly from your ads and can bring you more store visits and sales. You may choose to show location extensions only as part of select campaigns.
Good news: We've identified a Google My Business account that matches one or more of your Google Ads accounts and have made a link request to that Google My Business account on behalf of the Ads account(s). In addition, we will be applying location filters as needed so that only locations suitable for your Ads account sync over from Google My Business. We will automatically make the link between your accounts on 11/09/2020 unless you or the Google My Business owner opts out. After linking, location extensions will show with your ads.
The table at the bottom of this email shows the Google Ads and Google My Business accounts to be linked.
What do I need to do?
If location extensions are appropriate for the Google Ads accounts below, no further action is needed. Location extensions will start running automatically unless the owner of the Google My Business account declines to link to your Google Ads account.
If you want to run location extensions but want to use a different Google My Business account, you can link a different Google My Business account in Google Ads manually.
Note that we will be applying location filters as needed so that only locations suitable for your Ads account sync over from Google My Business. However, if you'd like to opt-out of automated location extensions altogether, please follow the steps here by 11/09/2020. Note that these steps must be taken for each account you want to opt out.
