In this tutorial, you'll learn how to crop an image using the crop tool in Lightroom. Typically, this is the first step in your photo editing workflow.
Right above the Basic Panel, you'll see the crop overlay tool. Just click that to bring up an overlay grid on your image.
Simply click and drag the handles at the edges of your image to crop a photo.
An even more refined post processing technique is to use the angle tool to make sure your image is straight. This is particularly helpful if you have a horizon line or any other straight line that needs to be straightened.
A useful tip in the Lightroom editing process is press L on your keyboard to enter Lights Out mode. This will let you hide the rest of the Lightroom panels and other distractions on screen so you can see only what you're cropping.
Also, using the crop ratio tool will allow you to change the shape of your crop. For instance, if you want to know how to crop like Instagram photographers, just use a 1:1 cropping ratio.
