Data Update 2 for 2022: A Winning Year for US stocks, but....
In this session, I look at US equities (with a glance at global equities along the way) during 2021, chronicling a year that delivered a return over 28.47% to investors in the S&P 500, and break down those returns by sub-groups (sector, PE ratios, corporate age). I then look forward, by first estimation the price of risk (equity risk premium) in the S&P 500 to start 2022, and then comparing this value to history. In the final section, I offer my assessment of value for the index, with an open invitation to you, to disagree with me and come up with your own assessments.
