This video explores the First Law of Thermodynamics from Theme B of the IB Physics HL course. The assumptions for ideal gas behavior are reviewed, and then the equation for the first law of thermodynamics is introduced, and all variables are explained. Four types of phase changes are then discussed: Isobaric, Isochoric, Isothermal, and Adiabatic. The corresponding pressure-volume graph for each change is introduced, and the equation for the first law of thermodynamics is modified in each case to match the conditions of the specific changes.
