Escape From Tarkov early wipe is widely regarded as the best time to play EFT; everyone has low tier gear without max skills or meta guns which makes for a much more even playing field. Every item is worth more and players do what they can to survive, sometimes even teaming up using VOIP! There are quite a few subtle changes this wipe, mostly concerning movement and leaning as well as how effective skills are, with Strength and Endurance both receiving a nerf including Elite Perks. The audio has seen work too, with new sounds for different wood and metal surfaces making it easier to differentiate between sounds made by hitting wooden and metallic objects. 2022 has certainly been an exciting year for EFT so far!
My early wipe strategy is building the Hideout and completing Tasks as efficiently as possible, preferably averaging at least 1 task per raid to keep the XP and trader rep coming in. Operational Tasks are extremely useful for new players looking for extra XP along the way and usually reward a fair amount of money and items, scaling up with player level progression. Early wipe builds tend to stay on the basic side, running the 74M and RPK wherever possible, with the suppressed OP SKS coming in clutch for sneaky Woods raids. I usually have a good experience with full auto 5.45 and switch to semi with 7.62x39 due to the increased recoil. I'm very much looking forward to trying out the new guns, especially the G36!
