The Sri Lankan cabinet announced the transfer of management of the Chinese-built Mattala International Airport to India's Shaurya Aeronautics (Pvt) Ltd. and the Airports of Regions Management Company of Russia on April 26. Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, constructed in 2013 at $209 billion with financing from China EXIM Bank, has faced challenges since its inauguration, including minimal flights and environmental concerns.
