Emtron DX-1D 1Kw HF Amplifier dropped numerous times in transit, God Bless Courier drivers :-)
The old Emtron DX-1D, one great amp, Australian built by Rudy Breshnik (chief engineer and owner of Emtron back in the day)who just inspired so many designs after his production back in the 1990s. We have it finally running and producing great power after 8 hours of remanufacturing bits, oh and of note is the assistance of a crowbar and a good hammer to sort certain alignments🤣🤣🤣🤣. Achieving full power easily now with new 4cx800 valve replaced with an original Russian tube(not Chinese) and cracked base and other parts floating around repaired. But as you will see in the video, looks pretty good now but unfortunately no prize cigar just yet, still a couple of concerns that are an issue...arghhhh, this came in for a simple tube replacement, shipping amplifiers is always fraught with incredible danger, and this one suffered, and suffered badly. I could use a service manual for a dx1d if any subscribers can chase one down, definitely would help on setup in the timing circuit where I think something is still being affected.
lf ever shipping a heavy valve amp, use a box that is at least 200mm larger in each direction, and loads of bubble wrap and foam, just gives the amp a better chance of arriving safely. That being said, even if this had of been in a larger box, I think this was more to do with the couriers handling and rotten temper on the day, it had been literally dropped a number of times judging by what was left of the box.
