Lean Healthcare and Hoshin Kanri: Healthcare Harry learns a lesson when he tries to confront Chrissy with some very ambitious goals. In this video we watch how Harry uses a top-down "push" approach to setting goals. Later, Harry corrects his approach using a Lean Management style and the concept of catchball. The traditional approach is a top down approach whereby managers "know best." This will not result in consensus among the departments within an organization; the result is chaos instead of alignment. The Lean principles of Continuous Improvement and "Respect for People" require engagement from all employees. Strategy Deployment must involve consensus and feedback (Catchball Process).
