The Columbia River Gorge has a multitude of hikes that are well-known for wildflower blooms. I am told that 2022 was not a great year for blooms, though I certainly wasn't disappointed. We get a good show of wildflowers in Montana yearly, but I have never seen anything to compare to this.

I hiked Coyote Wall with a friend, which was beautiful but very exposed, so prepare for full sun and a hot day! There are several routes that can be taken, a pick-your-own-adventure type place. There is a small parking area with a restroom at the trail head, but it fills pretty quickly, so plan accordingly.

A few weeks later I hiked Dog Mountain, Spirit Falls, and Tom Mccall Point trails all on the same day. Dog is the most popular, as such if you are trying to hike it in the weekend you will need a permit now. During the week, it is still very busy, so I suggest going early. I chose the Difficult rather than the More Difficult trail up and down. Spirit Falls is a short .5 mile trail, but the trailhead is hard to find and the trail is steep and rocky. Tom Mccall Point trail is on the Oregon side of the gorge, I just did a few miles up and back but as an out-and-back trail, you can go as far as you want. Big parking area, but no restroom that I recall, and on all of these trails, watch for snakes!
