The #FaceTimePhotoChallenge has been trending and picking up speed ever since quarantine and social distancing have become the new norm. In fact, many news outlets like Vogue, Teen Vogue, The Verge, Nylon and more have been writing all about snapping pics through your phone while on FaceTime.

A couple of things to keep in mind - a newer phone will obviously mean better quality photo but the quality is not what is the main goal in this process. It’s truly more for the fun and the art of it. Photographers all around the world have been embracing the challenge and showing off their portfolios online. It’s been a great way for these feisty creatives to also raise funds for local charities.

A couple of tips if you are looking to do a FaceTime photoshoot!
1. You must both have your settings for FaceTime Live Photos turned on - you can find this in your FaceTime Settings
2. It’s a great idea to set up a pre-shoot call with your photographer! Show them the space pick out some outfits and establish a mood for the shoot
3. It’s been said in some articles the front or the back camera don’t really make a difference but we opted for the back camera!
You can use a tripod but you don’t need one. Honestly for us a tissue box worked and anything around the house really! Chairs, DND books, plants lol
4. If you are doing close up shots of your face looking at the camera make sure your model is looking in the lens not at themselves on the screen. Eye level is easily spotted!
5. FaceTime is a great way to catch up with family and friends but what it’s not great at is adjusting to harsh lighting conditions — whether that be light or dark. Find a happy medium! Doing this in a well lit room by a window on a cloudy day is pretty ideal!
6. Edit the photos after to boost colors and play with exposure, shadows, contrast, the grain and sharpness!
7. For the love of God just have fun — don’t take yourself too seriously!

Tag me in your instagram photos if you end up doing this and these tips helped! I would love to see! @belowtheblonde
