A bank run happens when a lot of people start withdrawing money from a bank with the fear that the bank might be running out of money. So, thinking that the bank will not be able to pay their deposits back, they go on and start withdrawing a lot of money.
As a result, sometimes, if a lot of people do withdraw a lot of money from the bank, they might end up defaulting. Causing the very thing they were fearing about. And it has happened during turbulent times over the years.
