the gang know lily is capable of bringing penny back home, but she refuses and sticks to the group's journey. penny, desperate to see her family and home again sees lily as her only chance to return after losing faith in the rest of the group. however as lily starts to become unreachable from penny's desperate cries for help, penny starts to completely lose faith in everyone and loses hope that her family will ever see her alive again (and the other way round)
this is penny's pov, she believe their minds are corrupted by stupidity and that they cant be swayed, and eventually lily, who she knows can help her, is also corrupted by the other's views.
