Most therapies look at thoughts, feelings, and behavior and how they influence each other. Modern therapies are influenced by Zen Buddhism, mindfulness, and meditation. One difference between therapies is how we deal with emotions: are we going to challenge them, or do we accept them. Often we try to look at thoughts and emotions more objectively rather than let them overwhelm us. Some therapies are focussed on the here and now, others on goals and working towards values, and others try to analyze our past to get an insight.
